Padma D. Maitland is a PhD student in the Departments of Architecture and South and Southeast Asian Studies at UC Berkeley. His research focuses on the art and architecture of religious pilgrimage sites in India and Nepal. After serving as the Assistant Art Director for the Swayambhu Renovation Project, he coedited Light of the Valley: The Fifteenth Renovation of the Swayambhu Stupa (2011). He is also the founding editor of the architecture journal Room One Thousand and has curated several exhibitions, including The Elephant’s Eye: Artful Animals in South and Southeast Asia for the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) in 2014.
