Jen Gray-O’Connor is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at UC Santa Cruz. Her research examines housing and new forms of urban inequality in the U.S. Specifically, she looks at how "new urbanist" and "smart growth" policy discourse frame public debates about issues of affordable housing, poverty, unemployment, gentrification, and segregation.
