Elsa Ramos is an undergraduate student at UC Santa Cruz, majoring in Latin American and Latino Studies and Sociology, with a minor in Education. Elsa is currently working on a senior thesis project that focuses on the experiences of young Latin@ adults in the Mission District of San Francisco, with regards to gentrification and related concepts of “root shock”, cultural displacement, and sense of belonging. Since the summer of 2014, she has been involved with the Youth Oral Histories Project with the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, a team that collects interviews of San Franciscan youth to document stories that are often overlooked in dominant discourse and scholarship.
